Promotional Illustration for Apex Legends Season 23

Season 23’s lore was defined by the sudden appearance of space-time fractures, known as Rifts, across the Outlands.
The season’s teasers depicted how these anomalies affected everyday life of the Outlands citizen through fictional in-world social media posts and a series of commissioned artworks from Apex community artists.

Apex France gave us complete freedom to interpret the theme, and I went for a dramatic composition featuring Ash, Revenant, the E-District map, and a massive Rift tearing through the sky.

Beyond being one of my favorite Legends, I chose Ash to echo the previous season’s lore:
Trying to stop Mary Sommers from triggering a temporal disaster, Ash shattered a time travel artifact with her cutting-through-space sword and ended up causing the very catastrophe she meant to prevent.
No one but her knows the truth, and my illustration shows her from behind, facing the consequences of her actions.
